This recent post from the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC)<\/a> notes that the organization, along with the Newark Education Workers Caucus (NEW Caucus), plans to file a lawsuit against the city of Newark, New Jersey, because it has not taken action to address high levels of lead in the city’s drinking water.<\/p>\n

According to the post: “In 2017, 10 percent of water samples collected by the city showed lead levels above 26 parts per billion, nearly twice the federal action level of 15 parts per billion.” The NRDC claims samples above the federal action level were also found in February, March, and April of 2018.<\/p>\n

Problems with lead contamination continue popping up in communities throughout the United States, with many residents unaware of them until they make national news.
