Green Building & Design\u00a0(gb&d)\u00a0<\/em>magazine<\/a> is a popular trade publication that informs and inspires professionals by spotlighting new products and trends for increased sustainability. In the January-February 2019 issue,\u00a0gb&d <\/em>published an interview with ENPRESS’ own Michael P. Mormino\u2014where he talked\u00a0about the problem of lead contamination and how our revolutionary PIONEER\u00ae point-of-entry system<\/a> provides an innovative solution.<\/p>\n

1. Lead bioaccumulates\u00a0in the body<\/h3>\n

Mike notes in the interview that one of the biggest problems with lead exposure is that it builds up in the body and doesn’t leave. This is especially dangerous for children, who experience negative health effects at lower lead exposure levels than adults. Mike points out, “The American Academy of Pediatrics states there are no effective medical treatments for lead poisoning and that prevention of exposure is needed.”<\/p>\n

2. Replacing all the lead pipes won’t happen quickly<\/h3>\n

The widespread problem of lead pipes<\/a> being part of our national infrastructure and creating the potential for water contamination won’t be resolved overnight. In the interview, Mike states: “The EPA\u2019s latest survey estimated the entire sector needs $385 billion in water infrastructure improvements through 2030, and this estimate includes costs to only partially replace lead pipes.”<\/p>\n

3. Pitcher and faucet filters don’t do enough<\/h3>\n

If there’s lead in your water, it’s not just going to your kitchen sink. In the interview, Mike notes all the places water flows in a home: bathtubs, showers, dishwashers, washing machines, etc. Families use that water to rinse their hands, brush their teeth, wash their faces. It makes good sense to ensure ALL your water is filtered\u2014especially if you have kids.<\/p>\n

4. PIONEER\u00ae removes both particles and dissolved lead<\/h3>\n

The tricky part of removing lead is getting all forms of it out of water. Mike tells\u00a0gb&d\u00a0<\/em>that the PIONEER\u00ae system<\/a>, “is designed to attract and ionically bond with the soluble lead… it works like a magnet.” He also states, “We went through extensive third-party testing with IAPMO R&T to the NSF\/ANSI 53 Standard for lead and cyst filtration. For lead particles, you must be able to filter down to 0.5 microns, which is really small.”<\/p>\n

5. Each filter works for 100,000 gallons of water<\/h3>\n

Along with getting filtered water throughout your entire home, one of the other benefits<\/a> of PIONEER\u00ae is you don’t have to change your filter as often. Mike says in the interview that each filter is designed to last for 100,000 gallons of water, or about a year. He also notes: “The system has a meter and it counts the gallons, so there is no guessing if the filter is working or how much life is left before it needs to be changed.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
