Stories about these potentially toxic, man-made chemicals getting into the environment and contaminating water supplies have become a frequent occurrence.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a trio of recent articles on the topic:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Military Times<\/em>: &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/your-military\/2019\/03\/04\/16-cancer-cases-in-one-family-base-water-contamination-fight-moves-to-congress\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">16 cancer cases in one family: Base water contamination fight moves to Congress<\/a>&#8220;<\/li>\n<li><em>Quartz<\/em>: &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/qz.com\/1575450\/damaged-health-from-pfas-costs-europe-more-than-50-billion-euros-per-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PFAS costs Europe more than \u20ac50 billion a year in health problems<\/a>&#8220;<\/li>\n<li><em>The Detroit News<\/em>: &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.detroitnews.com\/story\/news\/local\/michigan\/2019\/03\/17\/michigan-delayed-lab-test-pfas-water-contamination\/3032655002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">State delayed in creating lab to test for PFAS water contamination<\/a>&#8220;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While the impact of these chemicals on the human body is still being studied, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry suggests that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atsdr.cdc.gov\/pfas\/health-effects.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PFAS exposure may have negative health effects<\/a>. The EPA has currently not set a limit on PFAS chemicals, though they have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.enpress.com\/site\/epa-outlines-pfas-action-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced an action plan<\/a>. In the meantime, many states are taking action to limit PFAS levels in water\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.philly.com\/news\/pfas-new-jersey-drinking-water-limit-pfoa-pfos-20190401.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">with New Jersey being one of the latest to move in that direction<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There continues to be a lot of buzz about PFAS water contamination and its potentially negative health impact.
