This can lead to issues with contamination. A recent study in Delta County, Colorado revealed high levels of arsenic in thousands of citizens\u2019 drinking water. According to the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Delta County Health Department (DCHD) and it\u2019s director Ken Nordstrom, around 36,000 people, or 60% of the population, in Delta County drink water from private wells that aren&#8217;t regulated because they&#8217;re privately owned.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colorado.edu\/engineering\/2019\/10\/30\/partnership-puts-valuable-water-quality-information-western-slope-online\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">University of Colorado Boulder<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> collaborated with the DCHD for this study. The University affirmed, \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of the 457 wells analyzed in the survey, 11% have arsenic concentrations exceeding the Colorado primary drinking water standard maximum contaminant level.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Agency for Toxic Substances &amp; Disease Registry studied the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.atsdr.cdc.gov\/csem\/csem.asp?csem=1&amp;po=11\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">effects of arsenic<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on the human body.
