Canada has had a long standing issue with lead contamination within its drinking water supplies. In fact in an <\/span>article<\/span><\/a> by Global News, The North American country refers to its lead contamination issue as a \u201ccumulative general poison\u201d. In an effort to fight against the contamination, officials in the city of Montreal have promised 15,000 water filters to those affected the most. Replacements of these filters will last up to 12 months and will renew the supply of filters when they are needed.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the alarming discovery of how bad the lead contamination was in Quebec, public officials pledged to eliminate all lead pipes by 2030. Residents of areas highly affected by lead contamination are allowed to request a filter and they will be installed by the city of Montreal water department.<\/span><\/p>\n
