As 2020 comes to a close and newly elected members of congress get ready to meet in January, it\u2019s expected that legislators will focus on setting official Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) limits on PFOA\/PFOS. This comes after a statement from Representative Debbie Dingell, when discussing the focus of congress\u2019s first session in 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n

In an article<\/a> by Bloomberg Law<\/a>, Rep. Dingell stated \u201creintroducing the bill would send a signal to the incoming Biden administration that controlling per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFA, is a top priority in the new congress.\u201d The bill, which was passed last January by the House, requires the EPA to set standards for cleaning up these harmful substances and to set limits for them. Additionally, this bill would prohibit the use of chemicals in any material that would touch food.<\/span><\/p>\n

In order to ensure communities across the U.S. can address the growing concern over PFAS, the House will provide funding that will assist in the cleanup and prevention of contamination within drinking water supplies.<\/span><\/p>\n
