$55 Infrastructure Legislation Could Benefit Small Communities

Legislation in Washington D.C. consists of $55 billion in new spending for programs and projects on water quality. One of the benefits of this legislation is assistance towards Clean Water State Revolving Funds, which can be spent on Point-of-Use or Point-of-Entry filters. This requires that the filters be used to benefit public water systems. Another benefit of the legislation is empowering the EPA’s Assistance for Small and Disadvantaged Communities Program.

The EPA’s program for smaller communities provides grants to towns with a population of less than 10,000. These communities often lack core water services and water systems that are standard in most places. The grants provided from this legislation can help those towns stabilize their water quality and enjoy a higher standard of living. The last element of the legislation would permit grant funds to go towards POU and POE filtration systems for those small communities.
