OUC, the second-largest municipal utility in Florida, plans to develop a reverse osmosis water treatment plant near Lake Nona by 2033. The facility could produce up to 10 million gallons of safe drinking water per day by drawing brackish groundwater from deeper within the Lower Floridan Aquifer and treating it for potable use. As Central Florida’s population continues to grow, the project supports OUC’s long-term strategy to diversify water sources, strengthen water supply reliability and help ensure safe drinking water for customers in the decades ahead.
