Droughts are known to cause risk of water contamination, and western states like Nevada have been suffering from these effects. In the Las Vegas Sun, they recount the flow of hazardous metals into their water source due to the drought. The lack of water from rainfall leads to higher concentrations of these contaminants. Their size may be small enough to pass filters or other prevention techniques. Citizens are requesting investigation into these unknown chemicals and an analysis of the danger they present.
