Wells are beginning to dry up in parts of Madera County

Two malfunctions regarding water administration have caused low water pressure and water shortages in Maderna County last week. The water motor failure has caused wells in the area to begin drying up at a surprisingly fast pace. In response to this unexpected circumstance, an organization called Self-Help Enterprises has supplied water tanks to over 200 homes in the affected area. One of the wells which was affected is expected to be up and running a few days after the new motor and pump are installed.

Maderna County has received $3 million to help restore and build new wells in the area. So far, construction on the new Berkshire well is expected to start next week, and the Charlton well is being restored. The second area which was affected, Parksdale water systems, has caused a stage 4 water restriction to be enforced. No other community water systems in the area are currently at risk. Experts have said to look out for changes in water pressure throughout the day and pumping sand.
